Class Description

Single zone rooftop units represent the largest segment of the commercial market and control systems for these units and the ability to provide zone solutions are an important business opportunity for the commercial controls contractor. This training class is intended for control contractors who have a working knowledge of the material covered in the ECS111. This class will train the participant on the skills necessary to wire, install, setup, configure and commission Carrier CCN based controls used on constant volume single zone rooftops and systems applying Carrier VVT (Variable Volume and Temperature) for multiple zone applications. The student will learn how to configure the constant volume PremierLink controller for stand-alone single zone control with economizer and IAQ control. The class demonstrates how to configure Carrier’s VVT controllers to create a zoning system with linkage from master to sub-master controllers for temperature as well as IAQ control. Students learn the design rules for applying and configuring a VVT system for temperature and IAQ control. Topics including sizing the bypass damper and configuring the bypass controller to maintain proper static. This class is 50% hands-on training using a combination of System Pilot, Network Service Tool V and i-Vu interface for exercises that support the concepts discussed in lectures. At the conclusion of this class a contractor will have the learned the skills necessary to cost effectively apply controls to the one of the largest market segments in the industry; single zone constant volume and single zone units using VVT zoning systems.

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Configure PremierLink™ DDC rooftop controller for standalone single zone applications using the T55/T56,T59 or the System Pilot™ as space temperature sensors.
  • Use Carrier's new System Pilot to configure a PremierLink™, 3V zone controllers, a 3V bypass controller, and a ComfortID™ VAV zone controller.
  • Operate the 3V zone controller with Carrier's family of T55/56 and T59 sensors along with a combination T56/CO2 sensor and System Pilot.
  • Demonstrate 3V VVT air source linkage, linkage coordinator functions, zone supplemental heat configurations, as well as stand-alone or floating zone operation.
  • Setup and commission 3V zone controllers and bypass controllers.

A cumulative score of 70% is required to pass this course. The score is a combination of attendance, class participation, and a demonstration of skills and knowledge through quizzes and/or work sessions.
